MMI and Panel Practice on the day
You’ll take part in a realistic 16-station MMI circuit and a full panel interview, all under real exam-style conditions.
This one-day mock interview event (09:00–17:30) guides you through timed stations that closely mirror those used by UK medical and dental schools. Throughout the day, you’ll experience both MMI and panel interview practice, just like in the real application process. Examiners score your performance, write detailed reports and give personalised feedback, so you can clearly see what you’re doing well and what you still need to improve.
Why This Interview Practice Helps You Succeed
Real MMI Experience
First, you will complete a 16-station MMI circuit. Each station is eight minutes long (six minutes to respond and two minutes to move to the next station). This gives you the chance to practise communication, ethical reasoning, teamwork and problem-solving in a realistic way.
Panel Interview Practice
Next, after the MMI circuit, you’ll complete a 15-minute panel interview. This step helps you get used to deeper questions, follow-up discussion and academic reasoning.
Personalised Feedback from Examiners
Then, once the interviews are complete, examiners prepare a written report and offer one-to-one feedback. This allows you to clearly see your strengths and understand exactly where you can improve.
Group Debrief and Strategy Session
Afterwards, you’ll join a group discussion where you can share experiences, learn from others and explore strategies that improve performance.
Build Confidence Under Pressure
Finally, by practicing with time limits, questions and realistic pressure, you’ll feel more prepared and confident for your actual medical or dental school interview.

How to Prepare for MMI and Panel Interviews
Learn the Difference Between MMI and Panel Interviews
To begin, it’s important to understand how each format works. MMI interviews involve several short stations where you’re assessed on different skills. In contrast, panel interviews are longer and involve speaking with two or more interviewers. When you know what to expect, you can adjust your approach and feel more confident.
Practise Common Interview Themes
Next, focus on the topics that appear most often. These usually include communication, empathy, ethics, teamwork, data interpretation and NHS knowledge. Using simple frameworks, such as the four pillars of medical ethics or the STAR method, can help you give clear and well-structured answers.
Be Ready for Follow-Up and Probing Questions
Panel interviews often include deeper discussion and follow-up questions. You may be asked about your motivation, scientific reasoning or ethical scenarios. So, it’s helpful to practice thinking aloud and explaining your decision-making process clearly.
Work on Timing and Answer Structure
Finally, timing matters, especially in MMIs. Try practicing short and focused answers within 5–7 minutes. This helps you stay calm, organised and clear during real interview stations.
