Introduction
This statement sets out Chequers Academy’s actions to understand all potential Modern Slavery risks related to its business and to put in place steps that are aimed at ensuring that there is no Slavery or Human Trafficking in its own business and its supply chains. This statement relates to
actions and activities during the financial year 2024-2025.
As part of Chequers Academy’s commitment, it recognizes that it has a responsibility to take a robust approach against Slavery and Human Trafficking.
Chequers Academy is absolutely committed to preventing Slavery and Human Trafficking in all its activities, and to ensuring that its supply chains are free from Slavery and Human Trafficking.
Approach
We will mitigate the risks around Slavery and Human Trafficking through the following activities:
- Ensure our policies are clear about our approach to Slavery and Human Trafficking and that they are regularly reviewed
- Our Safeguarding training will enable our staff to better understand and respond to Slavery and Human Trafficking risks
- Any allegations or suspected instances of Slavery and Human Trafficking will be investigated with urgency as set out in the policy

The organization operates the following policies that describe its approach to the prevention and identification of Modern Slavery and Human trafficking:
- Recruitment/Agency workers – Chequers Academy uses only specified, reputable employment agencies to source staff and always verifies the practices of any new agency before contracting.
- Employee Code of Conduct – Chequers Academy Code of Conduct sets out the behaviors and standards of our employees and this extends to the discharge of duties around safeguarding
- Whistleblowing policy – Chequers Academy encourages all its workers, customers, and business partners to report any concerns related to the direct activities, which includes any circumstances that may give rise to a risk of slavery or human trafficking. We encourage all stakeholders to make disclosures without fear of retaliation.
