
Professor Ayaz A. Abbasi is an experienced Clinical Director and Consultant in Emergency Medicine at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, a role he has held since 2009. He is also an Instructor in Postgraduate Medical Education at Edge Hill University, where he is actively involved in shaping the next generation of emergency medicine professionals.
Trained initially in Pakistan, Professor Abbasi is a Fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. He completed his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Emergency Medicine in the UK in 2009. With a strong background in both surgery and emergency care, he has developed a distinguished career marked by clinical leadership, academic contribution, and a deep commitment to medical education.
Professor Abbasi plays a leading role in research, quality improvement, and postgraduate training within Emergency Medicine. His academic interests include head injuries resulting from road traffic accidents and clinical education. He has published in several peer-reviewed journals and is a regular presenter at key national and international conferences, including EuSEM (Stockholm), MEMC (Nice), the British Trauma Society, and the College of Emergency Medicine annual meetings.
